Last night, local Tournament Director and creator of Dougieeevision Douglas Herron ran a tournament at Bowlerama in Delaware called the Mixed Doubles 4 Game Sweeper With a Twist, one of his more popular formats. As is usual for his tournaments, a good amount of bowlers came out to participate in the attempt to win some money and have some fun. One such bowler, Sassy (Shawnette) Fleet, had other plans.
During the tournament, Herron was notified by 2 bowlers that Fleet had a penchant for changing scores on the recap sheet in an attempt to make it seem as if she bowled higher than she actually did. Unfortunately, with so many bowlers, it's not easy to keep track of every single game, so sometimes you just have to go by the submitted scores. However, Herron began paying careful attention and by the third game, he noticed something was afoot.
He noticed in the first game Fleet had submitted a score of 197 and in game 2 she wrote down a score of 199. So he went around to her lane and noticed a whited-out score for game 3 on the recap, which was "corrected" to 182. Realizing most people don't usually bring white out to a bowling tournament, he asked the desk employee to print out the actual scores from her pair and saw the actual scores she bowled for the first 3 games were 179, 169 and 122, a difference of 108 pins! He quickly changed the scores to the correct ones, but not before calling her out on his live stream.
Later on, he took to Facebook to publicize the egregious cheating attempt, which has since garnered almost 200 comments. Another astute bowler pointed out in the comments that she did this in another tournament as well, to which the tagged Tournament Director confirmed. It seems this attempt to cheat was thwarted by the careful eye of Herron. Be wary, if you cheat in a Herron tournament, you will be called out - Don't Do It!
